This is an 8 week class that is a great option for people who have no experience with clay and a good option for those who want to brush up on their basic pottery skills.
8 week plan:
Beginning Wheel
Basics - Introduction to clay and how to throw form on the wheel
Throwing a cylinder and keeping the walls straight
Trimming forms on the wheel - clean up edge and make a foot
Throwing a bowl on the pottery wheel, handles
Glazing 101 basic dip
Last throwing day - How to make a plate
Trimming and finishing
Glazing 102 - Dip, Pour, Overlap, Brush, Spray, tape resist
Current students must have their own clay, we will send notification when it is time to purchase for the upcoming session. Your clay will be at the studio on your first day of class. All clays except sculpture and terra cotta are appropriate for wheel work.
Each student will get up to two 2.5 hour time slots of open studio each week.
Class meets Tuesdays at 7pm on the following dates:
3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/19
Due to the economic impact of Covid 19 on small businesses giving refunds is not possible right now. Please only register if you are most certain you will be able to take this class or not mind having the class deferred to a later date.
