“This 12 week course is for wheel throwers who are looking to deepen their practice, try more challenging forms, and hone in on what makes for a satisfying pot. Instruction will include demonstrations and conversation about approaches to forms. As we progress we will discuss handles, lids, spouts, altering, throwing off the hump, and two-part pots. We will also address surface decoration throughout. Coming from an apprenticeship background, I will share a bit about my ceramics background and its aesthetic considerations. We will send notification when it is time to purchase clay for the upcoming session. Please DO NOT purchase more than one bag to start. Your clay will be at the studio on your first day of class. All clays except sculpture (420), dark brown sculpture (798) and terra cotta (108) are appropriate for wheel work. Tools are not included, you can purchase tool kits on the website or bring your own.

Each student will get up to two 2.5 hour time slots of open studio each week.
